Yahoo! Today is the official launch of Garden Up!: Smart Vertical Gardening for Small and Large Spaces . To celebrate, Rebecca and I are hosting a cyber book party, complete with door prizes and party favors. Of course, two blogs isn't much of a party, and if you've followed the progress of our book, you know that we never could have written it without the help of some of the most talented bloggers, designers, gardeners and photographers out there. When we started looking for cohosts, who better to turn to than some of the co-contributors who made the book possible?
The Book
Filled with design tips, plant ideas and over 200 photos, Garden Up! offers inspiration and how-to information for enhancing any outdoor space with vertical elements. We cover everything from living wall projects simple enough for a home gardener to tackle to creative solutions for blank walls and narrow planting beds. For a peek inside the book, information on upcoming media and speaking events or to learn more about us, be sure to visit our website. The book is available from Amazon and Gardenbookstore.net as well as Barnes and Noble and other select retailers.
Door Prizes!
And now for the good stuff: Door prizes! Every blog is offering something different, and all you have to do for a chance to win is leave a comment. Winners will be chosen randomly. The contest runs for a week, so check back on March 21 to see if you're one of the lucky ones. The more blogs you visit, the more chances to win. I'm excited to be giving away a stunning trellis from H. Potter. If you've dropped by my blog before, then you know that small space design is one of my passions, both because it makes up an important segment of my design business, and also because I garden in a small space myself. H. Potter was gracious enough to let me pick out the trellis I'm giving away, and I chose the Nouveau Leaf Wrought Iron Trellis. Garden Up! has an entire chapter on arbors and trellises so you better believe I've spent a lot of time thinking about them. This one is made from classic wrought iron, while also sporting a touch of the contemporary vibe that I love. I would pair it with a delicate clematis for warm season color and leave it bare in winter to enjoy its unusual and whimsical design. If I'm lucky, the winner will send me a photo of it in their own garden!
Don't worry if trellises aren't your thing. With seven co-hosts, this book party has something for everyone.
Angela Davis of My Rubber Boots is giving away a $25 gift certificate from Peaceful Valley Farm and Garden Supply, known online as GrowOrganic.com, an organic nursery and garden store with a spectacular range of edible seeds, propagation tools and pretty much everything you need to grow your own fruits and vegetables.
Over at Digging, Pam Penick is giving away an incredibly cool succulent wall art kit from Succulent Gardens
Just in time for spring planting Jim Martin from Compost in My Shoe has a $50 gift certificate from Annie's Annuals to hand out to one lucky winner.
Jenny Peterson of J. Peterson Landscape Design is featuring a $75 gift certificate from High Country Gardens. If you're a fan of ornamental grasses and xeric plants, you'll love their selection.
For those of you thinking about trying out a living wall at home Laura Schaub is giving away a Wally One from Woolly Pockets on her blog Interleafings.
And my co-author Rebecca Sweet has a whole bundle of tools from Fiskars on her blog Gossp in the Garden, including their cool new Cuts and More tool.
Party Favors
(Of course, YOURS will be signed)
In the best tradition of the Order Now! tactics used by infomercials and gym memberships, Rebecca and I are offering a signed bookplate (hand illustrated by me) to the first 100 people who purchase the book online. We're working on the honor system so there's no need to prove you made a purchase. Just send an email with a mailing address and the name you would like the book made out to here: susan@morrison-sweet.com. Garden Up! makes a great birthday or Mother's Day gift, so if you're buying more than one copy, be sure to let us know and we'll include an extra bookplate.
So what are you waiting for? Time to win some prizes! (And while you're at it, buy a book!)

I would love to win the wrought iron trellis. Have the perfect spot for it.

Fantastic! I'm so excited about your book. 'Gardening up' is something that I've been recommending to everyone in space-crunched Mumbai. So happy to see you've got a book about it.
And that trellis is really pretty. I can just see it in so many different settings. Lovely!

I love this trellis and I'm looking for one for my yellow jessamine. I worked with Jim Martin for years and I'm so pleased to see him receive the recognition he deserves!

Since I need to make the new tiny garden into a magical jewel, I hope to win the trellis!

Would love to have this beautiful trellis for Clematis. A neighbor's Clematis on her patio has hundredes of butterflies that hatch from her vine, so she planted two - one for the butterflies and one for her. I don't have much space left and need to go vertical so I don't have to ask to plant in a neighbor's yard!

This is great! I am new to your blog, but looking forward to learning and trying out your ideas. Thank you!

I look forward to reading your book, and sharing the news of it with the readers of my newsletter for The Gardeners' Club here in Santa Cruz, California. We're always eager for new ideas - going vertical in a large garden like mine, or in a small garden like many people, is a challenge and opportunity.

What a beautiful trellis! My cypress vines or clematis would look so pretty climbing up it. The book looks wonderful and I'll definitely check it out this week at B and N.

Lovely trellis, wouldn't it be fun with some little mouse melons running through it? Congrats on the book!

Excellent! My climbing rose is prostrate on the ground since our big winter storm blew over and busted my handmade wooden arbor. Thanks for the chance to win! I found you via Digging.
